Flashback arrestors stops oxygen back flow into the welding gas hose and vice versa caused by faulty equipment or improper use, and therefore prevents the formation of gas mixtures.
Gas mixture in a hose can cause and explosion. Flashback arrestors have been manufactured according to standard SFS-EN 730-1. FR 20 flashback arrestors are available with G1/4” and G3/8” thread, G1/4” for small torch kits, e.g. X11, and G3/8” for larger kits, e.g. X21.
