Long workshop calipers are designed for measuring large workpieces in workshops, garages, and industrial production where the measuring range of a standard caliper is not sufficient. The long jaw design and wide measuring range allow for accurate external, internal, and depth measurements—depending on the model—even on large workpieces. The range includes both digital and analogue long caliper models. The digital models offer a quick and easily readable measurement result on the LCD display and practical features such as reset, switching between millimeters and inches, HOLD and SET features, and automatic on/off. The analogue models, on the other hand, are based on the traditional vernier scale and provide a maintenance-free and reliable option for demanding use without batteries. Many models feature fine adjustment that facilitates controlled movement of the sliding part over a long measuring range. Rounded measuring surfaces or long jaws improve the measurement of internal dimensions, for example in pipes and large holes.
