The Mitutoyo 7214A is a rectangular depth gauge with an analogue dial gauge as the measuring element. The reference surface of the base plate is hardened, precision ground, and micro-lapped, ensuring that the measurement is always based on a very flat and reliable reference surface. This design makes depth measurements repeatable and accurate, for example when measuring the depth of grooves, bores, and steps. The gauge uses a metric scale with an accuracy of 0.01 mm. It has a 30 mm stroke length and a nominal accuracy of ±30 µm, which is adequate for demanding applications in machine shops and inspections. The flatness of the base is 5 µm, which supports overall measurement accuracy, especially when the base is used repeatedly as a reference surface.
The depth gauge is equipped with a spherical contact point with a radius of 1.5 mm and a carbide-tipped point. This type of point is highly resistant to wear and maintains its accuracy even after long periods of use. With a stem of 8 mm and a total weight of approximately 310 grams, the gauge is robust yet easy to handle. Supplied in a box without the lever for raising the spindle, it comes with a carbide-tipped ball contact element and three extension rods of 30, 60, and 90 mm to allow the depth of measurement to be adapted to different applications. The gauge is supplied with Mitutoyo's 2952AB dial gauge, which ensures a clear and reliable display.
