The Mitutoyo 7224A is a round base depth gauge with a dial indicator, designed for accurate depth measurements in grooves, pockets, and drilled holes. The reference surface of the stand is hardened, precision ground, and micro-lapped, ensuring that the measurement is always based on a very flat and reliable reference surface. The circular base plate makes the tool agile to use even on narrow and inaccessible measuring surfaces.

With a range of 0-10 mm and a dial division accuracy of 0.01 mm, even small depth changes are easy to read directly from the dial. The dial indicator has a stroke length of 10 mm and a system accuracy of ±15 µm with a base flatness of 5 µm. The depth gauge is equipped with a spherical contact tip with a radius of 1.5 mm and a carbide tip for good wear resistance for repeated use. With a total weight of about 195 g, the instrument is both rigid and lightweight, making it easy to handle.

The Mitutoyo 7224A is supplied in a box without the lever for lifting the spindle. It comes with a carbide-tipped ball contact point and a dial indicator from Mitutoyo's 2902AB series, which offers a clear, easy-to-read analogue scale.
