The Mitutoyo 7301A is a dial-based thickness gauge specifically designed for measuring the wall thickness of pipes, films, paper, and similar thin materials. The measurement is made on flat ceramic contact plates, which allow the measuring force to be evenly distributed and the surface being measured remains clean. The instrument is also suitable for measuring, for example, the thickness of lenses or the depth of grooves and pockets where a clear and easy-to-read analog dial is required.

With a measuring range of 0–10 mm and an accuracy of 0.01 mm, even small differences in thickness can be easily detected directly on the dial. According to the manufacturer, the parallelism of the measurement is 5 µm, and the maximum measuring depth is 30 mm, which is sufficient for common thickness measurements of tubular and sheet materials. The measuring force is up to 1.4 N, so that contact with the workpiece is controlled and appropriately light. The contact tip is a ceramic contact plate, fixed with a M2.5 x 0.45 mm thread. The total mass of the meter is approximately 205 grams, making it sturdy in use while remaining easy to handle. The Mitutoyo 7301A is supplied in a box with a spindle lifting lever, allowing for controlled and ergonomic measuring. It is a reliable choice when a mechanical thickness gauge for thin sheets, tubes, and foils using metric units is required, and when the measurement result must be both accurate and quick to read. |
