Dial Indicator Thickness Gauge

The Mitutoyo 7304A is a thickness gauge with dial indicator, especially designed for measuring the wall thickness of pipes, foils, paper and other thin sheet materials. The measurement is made on flat ceramic contact plates, which distribute the measuring force evenly and offer good wear resistance and corrosion protection. The instrument is also suitable for measuring the thickness of lenses or the depth of grooves and pockets when a clear and easy-to-read analogue display is required.

It has a measuring range of 0–1" and a resolution of 0.001", even small thickness differences can be easily detected directly on the dial. The overall thickness measurement accuracy is ±0.002" with a measuring force of up to 2.0 N, ensuring controlled contact with the workpiece. With a maximum measuring depth of approximately 1.2", the gauge meets most common requirements for pipes and plates. The parallelism of the gauge is in the order of 5 µm, which supports the overall reliability of the measurement in repeated inspections.

The design is compact and rigid in the hand: the handle and thumb trigger facilitate measurement and the spring-loaded measuring probe makes the measuring movement fast and repeatable. With a #4-48 UNF threaded contact head and a weight of approximately 220 g, the instrument is light enough for repeated use, yet feels firm in the hand. The gauge is supplied in a box with a lever for lifting the probe, allowing an ergonomic and controlled measuring movement.
