The Mitutoyo 7322A is an analogue thickness gauge designed to measure thin materials such as pipe wall thicknesses, films, sheets, and narrow grooves. The instrument features flat contact surfaces and a wide "deep-throat" design with a measurement depth of approximately 120 mm, which allows for measurements in areas with restricted access.

The resolution has an accuracy of 0.001 inch and a measuring range of 0–1 inch. A parallelism accuracy of 5 µm is reported as a major advantage of thickness measurement, indicating the level of repeatability of the instrument. The contact system uses ceramic contact points, which improves wear resistance and reduces the effect of corrosion. The instrument weighs around 355 grams—sturdy enough for use but still practical as a tool.
