The Dvardala is the perfect axe for hunting and wilderness activities. It combines several different types of axes and is ideal for the forest, where you may encounter a wide range of challenges. It has a similar head to the Hultafors Åby axe, but the handle is shorter – 440 mm (17 inches) long – making it easier to take with you in a backpack, for instance. The shorter handle allows for nimble handling in precision-demanding tasks. The axe handle is notched, and the blade is ground to be flat and wide. With the notch in the handle, you can grip the axe close to the blade, making precise work easy. The semi-curved edge and flat sides allow the axe to rest securely against the workpiece when cutting along pieces of wood. It is still curved enough to be used for lighter forestry work, such as clearing paths or fire lines. The head is slightly thicker at the cheeks, providing excellent splitting capabilities for chopping firewood. The axes have been hand-forged at Hults Bruk using traditional methods since 1697. The nominal weight of the head is 0.7 kg, and it is made from Swedish CO2-neutral axe steel. The axe is named after Dvardala, which is the old name of the forest area located north of Hults Bruk.
