Mitutoyo 543 series digital dial indicators are ABSOLUTE type Digimatic indicators for precision measurements in machine shops, maintenance, and quality control. The indicators in the series use the ABSOLUTE linear encoder, which means that the zero point is set once and the indicator remembers it for the life of the battery – the measurement is ready immediately upon powering on, without needing to find the origin each time. The indicators have a large, clear LCD display and, depending on the model, the option to display an analogue bar or GO/±NG result when the upper and lower limits are set. This allows the dial gauge to be used for both numerical measurement and quick "pass/fail" checking in batch production. Some of the 543 series indicators also offer Max/Min/TIR (Total Indicator Reading) functions as well as simple calculation functions for direct reading of e.g. range or peak value.

Most models in the 543 series are equipped with an SPC data output, which allows the measurement results to be transferred to quality control systems or to a spreadsheet, for example. The design is compact – similar to traditional 2-series analogue dial indicators – and the mounting arm is a standard Ø 8 mm h6 arm which fits directly on standard magnetic feet and measuring stands. Both basic models (simple-function ID-S) and multi-function models (e.g. ID-C, ID-H, ID-F) are available for different accuracy and resolution requirements.
