Dimensioning of O-rings
The dimensions of the O-rings are always given as the inner diameter of the O-ring (d1) x the thickness of the material (d0).

FLUORINE RUBBER (VITON / FPM)
Fluorine rubber is suitable for use with many chemicals and substances. FPM has excellent dust heat resistance. It has good resistance to ozone, oxygen, mineral oil, synthetic hydraulic fluids, fuels, aromatic solvents as well as many organic solvents and chemicals.
FPM does not have especially good cold resistance. -25 ºC in static use (no leakage detected in -40 ºC under certain conditions).
In dynamic use -15 to -20 ºC can be achieved. Gas permeability is very low and comparable to butyl rubber.
There are also special versions of fluorine rubber (VITON) for different applications.
Suitable for use with:
- mineral oils and greases; low expansion. ASTM oils no. 1-3
- non-combustible hydraulic fluids, HFD group
- silicone group and fat
- vegetable fats and oils
- aliphatic hydrocarbons (fuels, butane, propane, natural gases)
- aromatic hydrocarbons (trichlorethylene, carbon tetrachloride)
- fuels that contain methanol
- very low pressures
- very good resistance to ozone, weather and aging
Not suitable for:
- polar solvents (acetone, methyl ester ketone, diethyl ether, diethylene dioxide)
- glycol-based brake fluids
- ammonia gas, amines, bases
- small molecule organic acids (formic acid, acetic acid)
- water vapour and hot water
Heat resistance:
Operating temperature is approx. +200 ºC and temporarily higher, which will reduce service life.
Cold resistance:
Lowest operating temperature is -25 ºC, changes based on composition. Special versions are available for cold environments.
CAUTION: Burnt fluorine rubber must be handled as a corrosive substance.
