Single acting hollow piston cylinders are hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders that operate in one direction only. They consist of a perforated piston and a cylinder with an opening through which the piston moves. The movement typically occurs in the pushing direction as the fluid from the pressure hose forces the piston outward. The return action is achieved either by a spring or external force.
