Taper gauges are designed to accurately measure clearances, gaps, and internal openings in situations where conventional depth micrometers or straightedges are not suitable. Compact and easy to use, they are an excellent choice for machine shops, maintenance, welding, and other metalworking and assembly environments. They are suitable for measuring a variety of gaps, slots, and clearances, such as slots, bushings, shock absorber holes, clearances in metal parts, and dimensions between machine parts. The gauges are concave (or flat) metal plates that taper gradually – the tapered strips slide into the gap and indicate the width of the clearance at the point where they stop. Read more
