Vermiculite expands at high temperatures (> 1000 °C), forming bellows-like grains with a very large surface area and low bulk density. Vermiculite is fire-resistant, inert and can withstand very high temperatures. Expanded Vermiculite has good thermal insulation properties and is easy to apply. It is suitable for insulation, for example, in chimney liners and loose tiles, all the way to battery recycling plants and battery factories. It provides additional security during battery fires. Vermiculite is a cushioning and absorbent material, which makes it suitable as a packaging material and is used as a VAK packaging material. In lithium-ion battery transport boxes and storage boxes, it reduces toxic and flammable gases and effectively controls temperatures and prevents them from spreading. Especially useful for dangerous goods and substances, e.g. because it is non-flammable and resistant to organic solvents. Vermiculite is suitable as a raw material for fire protection products. Advantages of use in the cement industry: The absorption capacity of the materials in the cement mixture has increased, the weight is low and the material prevents cracking and is sound insulating. Vermiculite can also be used e.g. as a coating agent for steel ducks, as a filler for plastics, in oil absorption, in oven linings, as a filler for concrete and floor loads. Environment: Vermiculite is chemically inert, odorless and does not irritate the skin, eyes or mucous membranes. |
